Originally, nametaken was conceived as a CTF clan created for the purpose of competing in the Excessive Gamers CTF cup (2006). Although some of the members played for other clans, they left to create nametaken for the sake of more competition. At first, there were only four members but after mew went inactive, DeaTh replaced him. Superstar defender facme was also called out of inactivity to help.

Somewhere in June 2006, MaJunior (who was coaching the team in xG cup) joined as a manager and soon the players 8bitlobster and xrg were also recruited. After nametaken registered for the #cpmpickup TDM tourney, flu1d was added to the TDM roster and ex-Jizz star player tom was also stolen from wSw and added to the team.

The team folded in Fall 2006, as lack of pcw opponents made the whole concept of clans irrelevant.
