CPMA FAQ
[edit]
Server using protocol 68.
- You need to update your quake 3. Install latest q3 patch
[edit]
Server tells me to download some old z-cpma-pak134.pk3
- Go to the menu (esc -> game options) and disable downloads. Or just type /cl_allowdownload 0. Reconnect to the server.
- Some stupid server admins forget to delete old files. The old files are not needed.
- You only need ONE pk3 in your cpma dir.
[edit]
My off-line demos are lagging and choppy
- Start a dedicated server from the multiplayer menu, or use a shortcut like this: quake3.exe +set dedicated 2 +set fs_game cpma +set vm_game 2 +exec <config>. Then connect to your own server with a second quake3 client.
- If your online demos are choppy, your connection is most likely to blame, but just in case, check your network settings.
[edit]
I get kicked back to the Main Menu when I try and start a botgame/server
- You require all the CPMA maps
- Maps are located in your baseq3 directory.
[edit]
Some variables do not have an effect
- Obsolete variables (such as cg_drawfps, cg_drawtimer etc) can still exist in your q3config.cfg but they have no effect.
- In fact, quake 3 can generate ANY variable, no matter if it has an effect or not. Type seta this_cvar_does_not_exist 1 and quake 3 will make a client variable called this_cvar_does_not_exist with the value 1 and write it to your q3config.cfg.
- If you want to see what variables DO exist, then backup your config, delete q3config.cfg (in both \cpma and \baseq3) and start up cpma. The new q3config.cfg that will be created in \cpma has all the variables with their default values.

What does 'unpure client' mean?
- The first thing to do is to make sure the servers you're trying to connect to are running the latest CPMA. If you want to connect to servers that are running the old version you can probably grab the old patch update from www.challenge-tv.com or set cl_allowdownload 1 and grab it from the server.
[edit]
What does 'client unknown to auth' mean?
- It means there is a problem communicating with the master server. It can be a router issue. Or you don't have a valid cdkey. There should be a file called q3key in your baseq3 directory. There should be NO q3key in CPMA directory.
- The other that that gives this message is when you have a pk3 in /baseq3 that Q3 isnt happy with - pk3s that modify game assets. But since you said its a clean install and you haven't touched baseq3 its unlikely to be this.
[edit]
How do I find games?
- The easiest way is by using a server browser to find CPMA servers with people on it. Check out The All-Seeing Eye.
- If you cant find a server near you with players on it you should try some of the CPMA IRC Channels - particularly the pickup channels. This is where most players hang out and is the best place to find games and get up to date on whats going on in the scene.
[edit]
Can I have the CPMA source?
- We don't "own" all the code - some of it is Rhea's, so it won't be released without his permission as well as mine, neither of which are likely to be granted any time soon (though it'll happen eventually).

Wiki FAQ
[edit]
How do I create a new page?
- Go to the page you want the new page to be linked from. A good place to test things and keep early drafts is in your User page.
- Click on the edit tab to edit the page. Add a link to the page you wish to create. This is done by typing the new page's title in brackets. e.g [[Page title]]
- Save the page. Your link will show up as a red link which, when clicked, will bring you to an edit page for your new page.
- Edit and save your new page. Use preview to save on edits going into the log and summarise what you change.
[edit]
What can I do with my user page?
- Whatever you like. They're useful for creating new pages from, putting together a page before its ready for the public, messaging, personal info and shameless plugs. You can also have subpages, which I'll explain one day.
[edit]
How should I message a user?
- Leave a message for someone at their [[User_talk:USERNAME]] page; where USERNAME is the login of the person. The will recieve an alert on the Main Page when the login.
[edit]
Someone has vandalised, what can I do?
- You can fix it! To revert to an earlier version:
- Go to the page, click on "Page history" in the sidebar (there are also "Page history" links on the bottom and top of every page), and click on the time and date of the earlier version you want to revert to. It will not work if you click on 'cur', 'last', or "Compare selected versions".
- Then when that page comes up, you'll see something like "(Revision as of 23:19 Jul 15, 2003)" below the title, rather than "From {project name}".
- Verify that you've selected the correct version, and click to edit the page, as you would normally.
- You'll get a warning, above the edit box, about editing an out-of-date revision.
- Ignore the warning and save the page. Be sure to add the word "revert" (or "rv") to the edit summary
- Or alternativly report the page and user to one of the admins.
[edit]
What can I edit?
- Almost everything! That's the purpose of ProModeWiki - the ultimate resource that is being updated by players.
To edit page (or section), click edit tab at its top (or at the right of section title). Keep in mind, that not all pages can be edited though.
- Note - its poor form to edit something that has been signed by a user except to fix obvious mistakes like spelling, broken links etc.
[edit]
What can I submit?
- Everything that you think is worth publishing and is related to CPMA.
[edit]
How can I stop people editing my posts?
- Ask one of the admins to protect your page, give a good reason though.

I've found a stupid page
